How to apply:

  1. We offer two options for applying. You can either download our application package or we can mail one to you.
  2. Fill out all the forms, sign and date where indicated.
  3. Mail the completed application package to the NLSC, ATTN: Human Resources, P.O. Box 12221, Arlington, VA 22219-2221.

Any incomplete or missing information will delay processing of the application package.

Once we have received your application package, it will be reviewed by our Human Resources and Language Certification Teams.

Note:

If you have been tested in the last five years in any language of interest to the NLSC, including English, by an organization such as the Defense Language Institute, Language Testing International, or Educational Testing Service, you may include your test scores or a copy of any certificates. We may accept this for fulfilling language proficiency requirements of the NLSC.

We ask that all applicants, regardless of prior certification, complete the global and detailed self-assessment forms as part of our process to develop the policies and procedures for the NLSC.

How to get an application package:

Our application package contains the following forms:

  1. NLSC Application
  2. Language Data Sheet
  3. Global Self-Assessment Form
  4. Detailed Self-Assessment Forms for speaking, writing, reading and listening

Option 1: Download

  1. Click here to download the application package (.PDF file)
  2. Once you have downloaded the file, open it. You can fill out the forms on your computer and print them out OR you can print and complete them using a pen. In either case, be sure to complete all the forms, sign and date them.
  3. Mail the application package to the NLSC, ATTN: Human Resources, P.O. Box 12221, Arlington, VA 22219-2221. We are happy to pay the postage. Call us at (888) SAY NLSC (729-6572) and we will send you a post-paid envelope.

Option 2: Mail

We can mail you a paper copy of the application package for you to complete and return.

  1. Send us an email or call us at (888) SAY NLSC (729-6572) to request a package by mail.

  2. Complete the application package in pen. Be sure to fill out all forms, sign and date them.

  3. Mail the application to the NLSC, ATTN: Human Resources, at P.O. Box 12221, Arlington, VA 22219-2221.
